After a Hiatus

I’ve been missing this blo lately.  Especially since I’ve recently chosen to sport a TWA full time now! ( more on that to come )

So I’m back up and the first thing I did was look around to see if the CLT has been helping any one else out.  I still love it.  On youtube I found this great vid of the explanation of the PH level in your hair rising when doing it and I thought I post it here to share.

Local Products to Love

I’ve been experimenting a lot the past few weeks and have fallen in love with a few products made in the UK.

The first company I’d like to mention is Roots to Ends They make a great pomade to add a little softness and shine to second and third day twists out! An it smells great, kinda of like bubble gum. Remember a little goes a long way!

Here is the ingredients: Castor Oil, Virgin Olive Oil, Wheatgerm Oil, Avocado Oil, Jojoba Oil, Shea Butter, Japan Wax, Hemp Seed Oil, Grapefruit Seed Extract, Natural Vitamin E (d-a tocopherol), Fragrance.

“R2E Pomade is blended from the finest unrefined Vegetable Oils, Shea Butter and Japan Wax and other fantastic, gentle ingredients This pomade will condition your hair leaving it soft, manageable and healthy looking. “

They also make a hand crafted wooden comb:

R2E combs are made of fine natural wood such as cherry, boxwood and other precious wood (from sustainable sources). The wood is sturdy in nature and has fine grains; making it suitable to produce good quality wooden combs. Notable differences between R2E combs and others are the high quality natural woods and selected bamboo that we use for making combs.

Benefits of Using Wooden Combs:

• Improves blood circulation of the scalp

• Helps prevent split ends

• Releases Tension

• Antistatic

• Non Toxic

Advantages of Wooden Combs: R2E Health Combs are in general suitable for daily use and you will benefit from using our combs in the long term.Using our combs promotes healthy hair, increases the blood flow through the scalp if used often enhances alertness. Since R2E combs are non- toxic it is safe to use and can be used as often as possible.

Normal plastic combs in comparison are not very gentle to hair because of its sharp edges, which acts like “knives”. Split hair is often associated with low quality plastic combs. Our high quality wooden combs are anti-static and therefore one can easily combs their hairs without entangling it. Too much static can hurt the hair profile and makes it rougher and brittle.

Technical: Our combs are hand made and are skillfully crafted and polished. No additives or chemicals are added to enhance the surface texture and luster. All combs are manufactured naturally and polished in a traditional way.

Although not a wide tooth comb, I was really amazed at the smoothness of the wood and how each tine seeme to have been wittled so you hair can’t catch on a seam!

When you order you first pomade R2E with include a complementary comb with the purchase.

A big thanks to Roots to Ends for sending out samples for the Natural Hair Meet up in June. They went down really well!

Cherry Lola Treatment Results

Cynthia, one of my fav youtube blooger tried the cherry lola treatment! I would like to comment on a few things she said
1. Detangling- I totally agree with her- We worry to much about detangling. I haven’t put a comb in my hair for a month now and it’s been great! Way more defined.

2. Over estimate how much you need. Make a whole container if you are blessed with thick hair like Cynthia

MICHAEL!! I MISS YOU !!

This is the saddest news. This household contains huge MJ fans and had floor seats to see him at his comeback. He will be sorely missed.

The Afro Hair Live show

It’s been a few weeks now since the hair show live, and I wasn’t going to talk about it because i was incredibly disappointed about it, but a few emails have been sent asking how it was so here is what I thought:

I willing paid 12 pounds to walk into a fairly sparse auditorium full of product stands for weaves, relaxers and inferior products. With the exception of 2 natural product companies, and 1 natural hair seminar performed by a woman who had on a full length weave and was pressing someone’s hair staight, everything else was pretty much what you expect in a BBS store. I head to the stand for the Magazine Black Hair- where they handed out bags filled with product and magazine samples. Which is nice- except all the products had either petroleum or mineral oil in them and the magazine was for Caucasian women from last August. I had to laugh.

I was particularly disappointed in the show guide. Out of 28 pages there were three – yes three- full page adverts for bleaching creams, targeting young women. I was not thrilled say the least.

It was nice to be in a room full of women of color looking for information, help, new styles etc though.
